Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Textile Plants (Cloth)

In RuneScape proper, it is not possible for players to make magical robes; they must be purchased or obtained as drops. But in Daemonheim they can! To make magical robes you need magical cloth, and that’s made from magical textile plants that grow throughout the dungeons.

Jagex set up textiles so that you can pick them the way you pick flax above ground (which is also a textile plant, by the way.) However, while anyone can pick flax, textiles are set up using the standard ten-tier system, with a plant for level 1, 10, 20 and so forth up to 90. The skill associated with textiles is Farming, so you need level 10 Farming to pick a level 10 (tier 2) textile plant, and so forth. However, you never need to actually plant these plants, and there are no textile seeds in Daemonheim.

Farming can be boosted using a weak, regular or strong naturalist’s potion.

The textiles themselves look like small leafy or flowering plants growing out of a hole in the dungeon floor. When you see one that you have the right level for, just walk up to it and click it. You’ll see an animation with your character picking over the plant, and then some textiles will appear in your inventory. You can get from 1 to 6 items per plant, with 2 to 5 most common. If your character seems to be doing the animation but nothing is showing up, that means you’re going to end up on the lower side of those numbers; this may be a function of your Farmling level relative to the level of the plant, but that’s not yet clear.

Textile plants—which can also be obtained as monster drops, though usually only the lesser ones—cannot be used directly (the way mastyx hides are). You must first spin them into cloth using a spinning wheel. There’s one located in the starting room of every floor.

As with other resources, you will most commonly find textile plants that correspond to the associated skill levels of the players in your team, in this case Farming. Crafting levels may also be a factor, since the only function of textile plants is to make robes from them, and that requires a particular Crafting level. So while you need level 70 Farming to pick a tier 8 plant (ectograss), you similarly need level 70 Crafting (or higher) to make anything with it. If you have high Farming but low Crafting, the game may not provide high-level textile plants, since you’d be able to pick them, but then not do anything with them.

The Farming skill table for textiles lists all of the types of plants, describes what they look like, and lists the XP you get for each one picked.
