Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Magical Construct

The doors of this room are blocked off by impenetrable, rune-covered doors. There is no way you can open them, but there’s a magical being here that may be able to help—if you can put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

General Description

This is another challenge room with a distinctive shape; an octagonal central area is surrounded by short corridors coming from the centers of the three walls opposite the entrance. These don’t actually go anywhere though; they are blocked off partially by walls and partially by rune-covered doors that cannot be opened.

Sitting hunched on the ground near the entrance door is what appears to be a stone golem of some sort, called a construct. It is missing a body part. Next to the construct is something that looks like the locked chests found elsewhere in the dungeons; it is actually a crate of magic rocks. There is also a chisel on the ground.

You have to take a rock from the crate, and with the chisel in your inventory, carve the body piece missing from the construct. You must then imbue the part with rune energy and use it to fix the construct. Then, you must charge the construct with magical energy; it will spring to life, then walk around the room in a clockwise direction, knocking down all of the rune-covered doors and making the other door exits from the room accessible.

Recommended Strategies for Solo Players

The biggest problem I have with this puzzle is having the necessary levels. I seem to get stuck on the requirements here more than anywhere else; in fact, I write this as I stand in a magical construct room that is demanding level 103 Runecrafting. Seeing as my nominal level in that oh-so-boring skill is 66, I don’t think I shall be reviving this particular construct. :) You also need Crafting and Magic to finish the room.

If you do have the levels, you just have to follow these steps in sequence:

  1. Examine the construct to see what body part it is missing.

  2. Take a rock from the crate.

  3. Pick up the chisel.

  4. Carve the necessary body part.

  5. Click the replacement part to imbue it with rune energy.

  6. Click the construct to repair it.

  7. Click the construct again to charge it so it “wakes up”.

It is possible to fail on many of these steps. As usual, you’ll be hit with an outrageous amount of damage that seems to make little sense given the message you receive telling you what you did wrong; heal and try again. An added complication here, though, is that if you fail to charge the construct, your magic level is knocked down by 10 points, which might mean a retry is not possible. You may need to leave and come back to the room at a later time, or grow an herb to make a stat restore potion.

Note that you do not have to wait for the construct to go all around the room; as soon as the door you want to take is accessible, go for it.

Recommended Strategies for Teams

This challenge doesn’t change for teams, but it often scales up the requirements to match the levels of the player with the highest skills. One advantage that teams have here is that if one player fails in charging the construct, it is possible that another player will have the necessary Magic level to try, saving the need for the first player to restore stats.
