Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Forgotten Ranger

Forgotten rangers are human archers found in Daemonheim; they are the ranged counterparts of forgotten mages and forgotten warriors. They are very common opponents in the dungeons, though they (subjecitvely) seem less common to me than the warriors and mages.

Like the other two “forgotten” types, these monsters represent a step up in realism from the foes encountered in traditional dungeons. They wear level-appropriate ranged armor and use level-appropriate bows and arrows as well, following the standard tier structure used for weapons and armor. So the lowest-level forgotten rangers (tier 1) wear protoleather armor and use tangle gum shortbows and longbows with novite arrows; the next higher level (tier 2) wears subleather, uses seeping elm bows and bathus arrows; and so forth. Unlike forgotten warriors and mages, there appears to be only one type of ranger per tier.

Fighting a forgotten ranger is like fighting a real player who is a ranger, except that they are generally tougher against melee attacks than a player would be using the same equipment. Naturally, they are very strong against magic, with moderate resistance to ranging. If meleeing, slash seems to be the best attack style.

High-level forgotten rangers are very good with their bows, and quite capable of doing heavy damage despite a player having high ranged defence. Protection from Ranged or Deflect Ranged are recommended when fighting high-level rangers.

Forgotten rangers can drop items corresponding to their tier. For example, a level 75 forgotten ranger may drop stegoleather armor items, a corpsethorn longbow or shortbow, and katagon arrows. The exception to this is that the level 114 forgotten ranger appears to wear tier 11 sagittarian gear but drops tier 10 equipment (tier 11 may be reserved for bosses).
