The RuneScoop Skill Optimization Guide for RuneScape - Crafting - Activity Descriptions - Yak-Hide Armor As part of the quest Fremennik Isles, Jagex introduced a new, parallel form of leatherwork to the Crafting skill. Yaks are cow-like creatures that drop yak-hide, which can be cured into cured yak-hide and used to make two types of yak-hide armor: bodies and legs (chaps). These are made in very much the same way as regular leather armor, the only real difference being the raw material and the items made. Weirdly, Jagex made yak-hide legs and bodies give the same amount of XP, despite the fact that bodies require twice as many hides. For this reason, most players who use yak-hide for training make legs. Confusingly, in the game itself both the bodies and legs are just called "Yak-hide armour".
