Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Analysis, Discussion and Tips for Success

General Discussion

The highest-level of the new untradeable potions -- and currently the pinnacle of the Herblore skill -- is the new overload potion. It is made by combining all five of the new "extreme" combat potions, along with a clean torstol. The result is a jet black liquid that boosts all combat skills to maximum for 5 minutes per dose. The overload does 500 LP of damage in 100 point increments when you take a dose, and this damage is undone (if not already healed) when the potion's effects wear off.

In addition to the obvious combat benefits of this potion, you get a whopping 1,000 XP for making it. The only drawback from an XP standpoint is that because of all the ingredients, you can only make four at a time -- but that's still a lot of Herblore XP per hour!

Note that since all of the potions that go into the overload are untradeable (as is the overload itself), you have to make them yourself before you can make overloads.

I have valued the overload potion at a flat rate of 25,000 gp. This is a somewhat arbitrary figure, but reasonable given how useful the potion is for high level combat.

Location and Access

You can make potions at any bank, but a one-click bank like Castle Wars is preferred.

Required and Recommended Equipment

No equipment required.

Required and Recommended Supplies

No supplies are required, aside from the necessary ingredients.

Familiar Suggestions

Summon a foraging familiar to earn extra money for you while you work -- I prefer the magpie, given the high value of rings and gems today.

Technique and Tips

First of all, if you're going to make a bunch of these, arrange all the potions and your torstol so they are near each other in your bank. Set your "Withdraw-X" value to 4. Take out 4 each of clean torstol and each of the five extreme potions; you'll have 4 empty inventory slots left over. (You can use the "Withdraw 5" option for some items if that's easier, since you have extra space.) Click one torstol and then any of the potions; when prompted, right-click the main message area and choose "Make All". Wait for the potions to be made, bank and repeat. (In this case it is easiest to bank using the "backpack" button in your bank interface.)
