General Discussion
The extreme ranging potion -- one of a set of extreme potions added by Jagex in its 2009 high-level Herblore update -- is made by adding 5 grenwall spikes to a regular ranging potion. The extreme potion has nearly double the bonus of the original -- from 4 to 23 points, instead of 4 to 13. This makes the potion very useful for rangers, of course.
The extreme ranging potion also has the distinction of being currently the fastest way to get Herblore XP in the game -- by a wide margin. The reason is that grenwall spikes are stackable, so you can make extreme ranging potions 27 at a time instead of 14 at a time. This results in much less time spent banking, so you make the potions, on average, 30% faster overall!
Like all of the high-level potions, extreme ranging pots are untradeable. Items that boost ranging are in high demand, but much of the current value of regular ranging potions is tied to their ability to be used to make this potion. As a compromise, I valued this potion at double that of a regular ranging potion. Part of this is because of the extra Herblore XP you can get using this potion to make overload potions.

You can make potions at any bank, but a one-click bank like Castle Wars is preferred.

Familiar Suggestions
Summon a foraging familiar to earn extra money for you while you work -- I prefer the magpie, given the high value of rings and gems today.
Technique and Tips
Take out a big stack of grenwall spikes. Now withdraw 27 ranging potions (3), click the spikes and then click one of the potions. When prompted, right-click the main message area and choose "Make All". Wait for the potions to be made, bank and repeat.
