I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Analysis, Discussion and Tips for Success
General Discussion
Cleaning herbs is an alternative to making potions that some players prefer for training Herblore. It has several disadvantages over potion-making: it is slow, tedious, and requires a separate click for every herb you clean. But because of this, potion-makers don't like cleaning herbs, and so sometimes you can sell the clean version of an herb for about the same price as its grimy version, or even a bit more, so you make money. That's far from guaranteed, though -- prices of grimy and clean herbs can move in opposite directions, so always check actual prices before you invest a great deal of money in this process.
Because of all the clicking involved, I strongly recommend against cleaning herbs for long periods of time -- give your wrists a rest!
Location and Access
You can clean herbs at any bank, but a one-click bank like Castle Wars is preferred.
Required and Recommended Equipment
No equipment is needed.
Required and Recommended Supplies
No supplies are required (other than the grimy herbs, of course!)
Familiar Suggestions
Summon a foraging familiar to earn extra money for you while you work -- I prefer the magpie, given the high value of rings and gems today. There isn't a really worthwhile forager below Summoning level 47, so I wouldn't bother with a familiar at lower levels.
Technique and Tips
There's nothing much to this -- take out 28 grimy herbs, click each one, put the clean herbs back and take out more grimy herbs to repeat the process. The most efficient way to clean is to start at the top left, move at a brisk pace from left to right, then down a row and right to left, and so forth. Or you can go down the left-most column, move right and go up that column, and so forth. You'll sometimes find that a click didn't "register" for a couple of the herbs, so just click them again.
It generally takes about 24 seconds to do a load of 28 herbs (including banking time), which comes to about 4,200 herbs per hour.
