General Discussion
Cutting gems transforms them from their original rough, uncut state into a form that can be used for jewelry or other purposes. Doing this is very easy and also quite fast, and you get a significant amount of experience for each gem cut, making this one of the fastest way of getting Crafting XP. The high speed of the method means players pay a premium for uncut gems over cut gems, causing gem cutting to be a power-leveling method for those who want to train quickly and are willing to pay for the privilege.
Location and Access
You can cut gems at any bank, but a one-click bank is preferred. Castle Wars is my favorite; non-members can use the bank chest at the Duel Arena.
Required and Recommended Equipment
You need a chisel.
Required and Recommended Supplies
Just the gems you are cutting.
Familiar Suggestions
Summon a foraging familiar to earn extra money for you while you work -- I prefer the magpie, given the high value of rings and gems today. There isn't a really worthwhile forager below Summoning level 47, so I wouldn't bother with a familiar at lower levels.
Technique and Tips
Starting with a chisel in your inventory, withdraw a load of gems, then use the chisel on one of the gems. Right-click the gem in your chat box, choose "Make All" and wait. Bank, and repeat. It takes only about 25 seconds to do 27 gems, so you can do about 3,800 per hour!
