Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success

General Description

Cutting yew logs gives lots of XP and is a decent moneymaker as well at typical log prices, though cutting magic logs usually is more lucrative once you have the level to do so.

Until you reach level 80 Summoning you must cut at regular trees, which can be crowded. The figures here are based on the game being about "average" in terms of how busy it is -- during quieter times you can cut more, during busier times, less.

Before level 80 Summoning, I use a magpie familiar while cutting; it gives a decent amount of value in rings and gems, and requires no attention to use. A fruit bat is another good possibility; the beaver is the only WC-related summon and it's not very us Another option is to just use a beast of burden to cut down on banking trips.

At very high levels you can cut at the tree patch in Varrock, using a hydra familiar and Regrowth scrolls to instantly respawn the stump. With this method you can cut continuously without ever having to compete with other players or wait for anything. This method lets you cut more logs, so you get more XP, and you never have to worry about crowds or waiting around or world hopping. On the downside, you need 80 Summoning, you have to use up scrolls, and you can't use a foraging familiar (to make extra money). I think the Regrowth method is better overall, especially during busy periods and for people who get frustrated by having to move from tree to tree. The regular tree method may be better when the game is very quiet.

Note that birds' nests are not included as output here as they are too rare and unpredictable for me to estimate their average value.

Specific Method Details

Equip a dragon hatchet and a strung rabbit's foot. Summon a magpie, teleport to Camelot and run south to the yew trees found below the flax field and beehives. Cut logs until your inventory is full, then run to Catherby, bank and repeat. Periodically store foraged items from your magpie and summon a new one.
