I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Eucalyptus is a relatively new type of tree introduced as part of the quest As a Last Resort.... These logs give almost as much Woodcutting and Firemaking XP as yew logs, making them a viable alternative, with some caveats.
The main problem with these is that the trees are in an area patrolled by very tough ogresses and also aggressive level 64 wolves. However, since wolf bones are also valuable, you can turn this to your advantage!
Once you are above level 128 combat, though, the wolves leave you alone, and the ogresses can be evaded. This lets you get more logs (though fewer wolf bones, of course) and is why there is a separate extremely high level version of the method here.
I recommend you cut these trees on a full world; they are never crowded and they take a while to respawn if the world is half-empty.
I use a magpie here to make more money from its foraged gems and rings. There is no really worthwhile Woodcutting familiar; you could use a beast of burden instead of the magpie to allow you to bank less, but the value of the foraged gems usually exceeds the value of the extra logs.
Note that birds' nests are not included as output here as they are too rare and unpredictable for me to estimate their average value.
Specific Method Details
Go to Oo'glog (charter ships are easiest). At the bank, dress not in typical skilling gear but in moderately good combat gear and wield a weapon such as a whip. Also summon a magpie to make more money from its foraged gems and rings.
Now run west out the main entrance to the town. Just to the northwest is a stand of eucalyptus trees; if you stand in the middle of them, the ogresses can't get you. Periodically a wolf will attack, so just kill it and take its bones. Bank when your inventory is full -- you should be able to get about 215 logs and 15 bones per hour.
You could also use a beast of burden instead of the magpie to allow you to bank less, but the value of the foraged gems usually exceeds the value of the extra logs.
