I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Summoning is mainly a support skill that helps you earn money in other activities, but there are a couple of methods that use Summoning itself to earn money directly. One of these is using a spirit spider familiar, whose special move generates 1 to 5 red spiders' eggs on the ground around the player. What's particularly unique about this is that the familiar only requires level 10 Summoning, and there are no other requirements at all for the technique -- you need no special equipment, no other skill levels and no quests. So this is a prime way to earn money for very new players, even ones who have been playing for only a couple of hours!
You can do this right at a bank, so even low Agility doesn't matter, but there are two "gotchas". First, it doesn't work properly indoors, and second, the eggs spawn on the ground, so if there are "noobs" around they can pick them up if you aren't able to pick them up fast enough. I found a nice solution, though: the bank at Bounty Hunter. You can teleport to it quickly using a games necklace and on a quiet world it is nearly deserted.
At mid levels you also have some other "quiet bank" options -- Burgh de Rott would be good to try, for example. At high levels I like Oo'glog, since it is even more deserted than the Bounty Hunter bank and only higher level people tend to be there (who generally leave you alone), but Bounty Hunter is still the most convenient.
Note that other than choice of banks to use, there's no benefit to higher levels with this method.
Specific Method Details
Use a games necklace to teleport to Bounty Hunter ("Wilderness Volcano"). Run northeast to the mobile banker dude there. At the banker, summon a spirit spider and take out a stack of egg spawn scrolls. Stand in a clear spot and cast the scroll 10 or more times, until your special move bar is drained. After all the scrolls are used, walk around picking up all the eggs. Deposit the eggs and take out a Summoning potion, drinking as many doses as needed to get your bar mostly restored (each provides 25%.)
You do get a tiny bit of Summoning XP doing this, but too little to be of any consequence (under 100 XP per hour).
