Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Smelting adamantite bars is a decent way of making money for high level players, and also provides slow but steady Smithing XP as well.
You should complete all of the tasks of the Varrock Achievement Diary to get Varrock armour, which gives you access to the furnace in Edgeville, which is the best in the game now that Jagex removed its annoying door. It is right next to the bank, and when wearing the armour you have about a 10% chance of smelting two bars at once. This doesn't make a huge difference here, but every bit helps.
A beast of burden provides no advantages with this method, so at mid levels and above I recommend a foraging familiar such as a magpie, which will provide you a nice bonus in foraged items while you work.
Specific Method Details
Get to Edgeville and put on your Varrock armour.
Take out 4 addy ore and a magpie pouch, and summon the familiar. Close your bank interface and click in the furnace room, then click the furnace, right click the adamant bar and select "Make 5" or "Make 10". Ignore the three coal left over.
When done, bank and repeat.
