Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success

General Description

In order to hunt implings as part of the Impetuous Impulses minigame, you need lots of impling jars. Unfortunately, these are not particularly easy to come by -- the "formal method" of making them is ridiculously cumbersome and time-consuming, and there is no shop that sells them. As it happens, the best way to get them en masse is to use

..the trade feature provided by the gnome named Elnock in Puro-Puro, who will trade you three empty impling jars for one jar containing any impling. This of course takes time and some effort, and that's why players will pay you a tidy profit to get the jars for them.

There are no skill requirements for trading the jars, but to do it effectively you need consistent access to the Lost City, which precludes low level players. The most efficient technique involves using the fairy rings and rings of slaying, but if you haven't unlocked these features, running back and forth from the bank in Zanaris is only slightly slower.

Note that you can do this with any type of impling; baby implings are just the lowest level and thus the cheapest. If you can't get those, or the price rises for some reason, try young implings or gourmet implings.

The efficiency of this method improves as you gain access to higher-level beasts of burden.

Finally a little tip: If you want, bring with a (magic) butterfly net. You can't cross the wheat of the maze with a familiar, but sometimes a decent impling crosses into the area where Elnock is and you can catch it. this means you need an extra inventory space, so if you do this, use amulets of glory to teleport to Edgeville for banking, instead of the rings of duelling.

Specific Method Details

At any bank, equip weight reducing gear and a dramen staff. Take out a ring of duelling, a ring of slaying, a pack yak pouch and 19 baby implings. Summon the yak, and set your left-click Summoning option to "Call Familiar".

Use the ring of slaying to teleport to Rellekka, then use the fairy ring just west of there to get to Zanaris. Run northeast to the crop circle and enter it, and after the silly animation, go just southeast to where Elnock resides. Click the Summoning button to call your familiar.

Right-click Elnock and choose trade, then click the circle next to the picture of the impling jar "x3" (a checkmark appears) and finally, click the "thumbs up" button. Ignore the message that appears, and just right-click him again, repeating a total of 4 times. Open the yak and store 12 impling jars in it. Right-click Elnock 6 more times, then store 18 more impling jars in the yak. Finally, trade Elnock 9 additional times to use up all of the baby implings. Use your ring of duelling to teleport to Castle Wars to bank.
