Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success

General Description

Soft clay is used for both training Construction and making teleport tablets. It is not extremely valuable but can be mined very quickly even by new players. The trick to it is using bracelets of clay, which cause any clay mined to automatically be soft (no need to use water). Each is good for 28 pieces of clay; note that when Varrock Armour gives you double ores, it still only uses one charge so you use less than one bracelet per 28 clay mined.

Due to the Varrock Armour, the bracelet will get "out of sync" with your mining trips, so you'll often have to bring with an extra bracelet. You can "operate" the bracelet to see how many charges it has left.

Note that a dragon pickaxe will provide more yield than a rune pickaxe for those with Mining levels above 60. Due to its very high cost, however, I have decided not to include it in the Moneymaking Guide at this time.

Specific Method Details

This method requires you to have your house in Rimmington; the portal there is the closest teleport spot to a clay rock. Start by equipping your pickaxe, Varrock Armour, amulet, duelling ring and bracelet of clay. Take with a spirit terrorbird pouch. In addition to the bracelet you are wearing, you need to bring with either one or two extras, depending on how many charges the current one has left. Try to keep track as best you can, or "operate" the bracelet any time to check its status.

Set your house teleport option to put you outside the house portal -- this saves time on each teleport.

Use a Teleport to House tablet to go home, then go northeast to the mine. Mine until your inventory is full, put 12 clay in the bird and resumt mining; when full again, use a ring of duelling to return to the bank. Don't forget to watch for the messages that tell you when to put on a new bracelet.
