Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success

General Description

Adamantite is the second most valuable ore in the game and always in demand, but making money solely by mining it is very difficult, because most mines have only a few adamantite rocks, and they take 4 to 6 minutes to respawn. The only place in the game with an abundance of adamantite rocks is at the bottom of the Abandoned Mine; the problem here is that you must go through an annoying procedure to get to the mine, which takes about 7 to 8 minutes from the nearest bank.

The solution to using the Abandoned Mine adamantite ores is the pack yak, which has a scroll, Winter Storage, that lets you send items straight to your bank. The scrolls of course have value, so this cuts down on the profitability of the method, but it is still a decent money-maker, provides moderate Mining and some Summoning XP, and is a nice option for experienced players who want to make use of their high levels.

Be sure to also see the high level adamantite ore mining and smelting method, for a less complicated alternative that doesn't have a high Summoning requirement.

Specific Method Details

First, be sure you are on a very full world for faster respawns. Teleport to Canifis and run down through the swamp to Mort'ton and then Burgh de Rott, as usual. At the bank equip yourself with your rune pickaxe, Varrock Armour 3 (which works very well on adamantite), amulet of glory and weight reducing gear.

Take out the following items: crystal-mine key (which can be on your key ring), three pack yak pouches, 555 Winter Storage scrolls, 4 doses of energy potion and 21 4-dose Summoning potions.

Exit the bank, use the Agility shortcut to the west and head towards the Abandoned Mine. You now must repeat the annoying process of getting the glowing mushroom and putting it in the cart as you did in the Haunted Mine quest; this is the only way to get to the lower levels. Consult a quest guide if you aren't sure of how to do this. With a bit of practice it should only take about 5 or 6 minutes to get to the bottom floor of the mine.

In the southwest corner of the mine's bottom are 13 adamantite ore veins in close proximity. Summon a pack yak and put most of the Summoning potions in its inventory.

Start mining, and every time you have 5 ores or gems, use 5 scrolls to send them to the bank; this will use up your special move bar. Once you start getting ores and gems faster than you can bank them because you are low on special move points, start using your Summoning potions.

When your first pack yak runs out of time, transfer its contents back to your inventory and summon the second one, then do the same for the third. A trip will last a little over 3 hours, using up the three pouches, all the scrolls and Summoning potions.

On the last pack yak you can start filling its inventory with ores and gems. Be sure to teleport out and bank before this last pouch expires.

In a three hour trip you can get about 600 adamantite ores, along with 50 or so gems. You do have substantial costs here but it's still a decent and very different way to make money and get Mining XP.
