Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success

General Description

Sacred oil is used to make pyre logs for burning shades, as part of the Shades of Mort'ton minigame. (They are also used to cremate vyre corpses as well.) This is usually considered an intermediate product in the minigame, but sacred oil is tradeable, and goes for a pretty good price since many people don't like making it.

You need to have completed the quest Shades of Mort'ton to do this minigame. I also strongly recommend having completed enough of In Aid of the Myreque to let you access the bank in Burgh de Rott -- it's a pain otherwise. Finally, I recommend a combat level of 81 or higher so the loar shades around the temple leave you alone.

Specific Method Details

Go to Mort'ton and buy a flamtaer hammer from Razmire the shopkeeper. Then bank at Burgh de Rott and take out a stack of coins, the hammer and a tinderbox. Also summon a pack yak.

Now run north to Mort'ton, access the building shop and buy 110 swamp paste, 10 limestone bricks and 10 timber beams. Put the bricks and beams in your familiar, then buy 12 more of each of the bricks and beams. Run northeast to the temple and start building. Once the beams and bricks have been taken from your inventory into your "resources", dump the ones in your beast of burden and add those in as well. Keep building the temple until .your Sanctity gets to about 95% (beware that it resets if you log out.)

Now run back to town, access the General Store and buy a full inventory of olive oil. Ignoring the first row, go down the columns to combine the 24 3-dose oils into 18 4-dose oils. Store these in the pack yak, then access the store again. Continue buying more oils and combining them, storing them in the yak and then your own inventory, until the yak is full and you are carrying 24 4-dose olive oils.

Run to the temple and use the oils on the sacred flame (lighting it if necessary) until your Sanctity runs out. Swap sacred oils with the olive oils in the yak, resume building the temple and continue until all the oils are converted. Then go back to Burgh de Rott to bank the sacred oils and repeat the process.

You can do around 205 per hour using the pack yak, because you spend less time running around. In addition to making some money and having time to chat with folks while building the temple, you get around 11-13k of Crafting XP per hour.
