Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Yak-hide is the secondary ingredient for pack yak pouches, one of the best familiars in the Summoning skill. It is in high demand both for the pouches themselves and by those making the pouches to power-level the skill. You can get yak hides by killing yaks on Neitiznot, but this is very slow. An alternative is to buy them from Vanligga Gastfrihet's special "yak shop" on Jatizso, which you gain access to if you pay her taxes for her, either during or after the Fremennik Isles quest. This shop used to have unlimited supplies of yak-hide at 50 gp each, but with the removal of infinite shops she now stocks 1,000 yak hides, which replenish over the course of 24 hours. It takes about 13 minutes to gather the hides and about 2 minutes to get to Jatizso, on average, and in that 15 minutes a day you can make a tidy little profit running hides to the bank.
Levels have no impact on the speed of this method, and despite the constant running, there is no need for energy potions due to the June 2009 run energy update.
Specific Method Details
Get to Yatizso via Rellekka in whatever way is convenient (enchanted lyre, home teleport if house is at Rellekka, fairy ring to Miscellania, etc.) Go to the bank and take out a stack of coins.
Run northwest to the room where Vanligga Gastfrihet "lives" and talk to her to access her secret yak stash. Buy 27 yak-hides and return to the bank and store them. Repeat until you have bought out her stock; in my tests I was able to buy 1,009 hides (not 1,000 since some hides restocked while I was doing the activity.)
