Broad-tipped bolts were put into RuneScape to be the crossbow equivalent of broad arrows, special Slayer equipment used by rangers to kill turoths and kurasks. They became extremely popular, however, due to their high damage potential and low cost. Players used to be able to buy unlimited quantities of unfinished broad bolts for 50 gp each, add feathers to them (getting Fletching XP) and have bolts about as good as adamantite for a fraction of the cost.
With the removal of infinite shop stocks, though, players can now only purchase 3,000 unfinished broad bolts per day. The average cost of these unfinished bolts is only about 57 gp, though, and with rangers still liking the bolts they make very much, this presents a simple, if limited, money-making opportunity: teleport to Sumona in Pollnivneach using a ring of slaying, buy 3,000 unfinished broad bolts, and then re-sell them. The whole process takes only a minute! Note that if you have not unlocked the ability to use rings of slaying, the next fastest option is to teleport to Edgeville or Varrock, enter the Edgeville Dungeon and run over to Vannaka; this adds only about a minute to the time required. |
