Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
A quick and easy way to make money using the Farming skill is to plant papaya trees and then pick the fruit from them. If you plant all five fruit tree patches, you can get 30 papayas in just a few minutes; it then takes somewhere between 5 and 6 hours for them to grow back. At the same time, you should also pick cactus spines from the sole cactus patch, since they are quite valuable as well.
At level 78 Summoning, you gain access to the giant ent familiar, which has a very useful feature -- a 50% chance of getting two fruit or spines instead of one each time you pick from a tree.
Note that since the June 2009 run energy update, you do not need energy restoration during this activity. Also, you can take advantage of the relatively new ability of tool leprechauns to note items associated with Farming, so that you do not need a beast of burden for this activity either.
Note that while you are doing this activity, you can also save some time and get your daily quota of 40 free pineapples, as well (a reward for completing the Karamja Achievement Diary).
Specific Method Details
Start at any bank, equipping boots of lightness, spottier cape, penance gloves and a ring of duelling. Take out 4 law runes, 6 air runes, 3 water runes, Elven teleport crystal and giant ent pouch. Summon the giant ent.
Teleport to Camelot, then run southeast to Catherby and continue east to the fruit tree patch. Pick six papayas from the tree there (you'll get 6 to 12, depending on your luck, because of the giant ent.)
Teleport to Ardougne, pickpocket a guard to get 30 coins, then take the boat to Brimhaven. Pick more papayas from the tree just to the southwest. Use a papaya on a leprechaun to note your fruit whenever your inventory gets full.
Click the Elven teleport crystal to go to Lleyta, then pick more papayas from the tree near where you arrive. (I recommend owning many crystals so you can recharge them all at once.) Bank if you didn't after the Ardougne patch.
Rub the ring of duelling and teleport to Al-Kharid. Run south to the cactus patch and pick three to six cactus spines.
Teleport to Mobilising Armies and right-click the spirit tree right near where you land. Teleport to the Tree Gnome Stronghold and head east to the tree patch there. Pick more papayas.
Go west a short distance and use the spirit tree to teleport to the Gnome Village. Go west and through the broken railing, right-click Elkoy and choose "Follow". Then go a bit west to pick your final batch of papayas from the last papaya tree. Return to Castle Wars to bank.
