I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Swamp lizards are another item used by high level Summoners that can be supplied by low level hunters. They are in a remote location so few player hunt them, making them lucrative for those who do.
Swamp lizards can be caught even at low levels, but they are fairly slow at level 30 Hunter, and getting to their area is a nuisance until you can use the fairy rings. At higher levels you gain substantial benefit from better beast of burden familiars.
Specific Method Details
Even at level 50 Hunter, swamp lizards are pretty quick to catch, giving good money and XP rewards. Note that in my tests, using guam tar bait was of little benefit.
At this level you can use the fairy rings, which makes life much easier, assuming you've also done In Search of the Myreque. We will also use a faster hunting spot, even though it means dealing with ghasts.
First, make sure you are on as empty a world as possible -- yes, the opposite of what I usually advise! Full or empty world doesn't matter for swamp lizards, and there's an advantage to an empty world that we'll see soon.
Equip yourself with boots of lightness, amulet of glory, spotted cape, Varrock armor 1 or better (to provide protection while keeping weight low), dramen or lunar staff, and a weapon such as a rune scimitar. Also withdraw a spirit terrorbird pouch, around 40 or so Tireless Run scrolls, 3 small fishing nets and 3 ropes, and your druid pouch from Nature Spirit (10 or so items in the pouch will do.)
Teleport to Edgeville using the amulet of glory and run northeast, over the bridge and south to the fairy ring. Go to code "D L S", which leaves you in the Myreque tunnels. Exit to the main tunnel, run southest and open the doors to the swamp. Now run a bit south, then go east towards the hunting area. Skip the first spot with three hunting trees and head for another location just beyond it, where the three trees are much closer together. Summon your spirit terrorbird.
The ghast in the area will almost immediately be made visible by your druid pouch -- ignore it for now and set up your pouch. While waiting for the traps to be filled, kill the ghast -- this will then give you some peace and quiet for a while (and is why I said to choose an empty world, as the ghast takes longer to respawn.) You also get 30 Prayer XP for this and once in a blue moon a good drop like a grimy ranarr.
Hunt until your inventory is full, put 12 lizards in the terrorbird and continue. Use scrolls to restore run energy as needed, and when your inventory is nearly full, temporarily drop your weapon and druid pouches to make room for more lizards (be sure not to forget to pick them back up when you drop the last rope and net!) When done, use your amulet of glory to teleport to Edgeville, bank and repeat.
You can get about 205 swamp lizards per hour, plus whatever decent drops the ghasts provide.
