I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Swamp toads are used for making one of the most commonly created Summoning pouches: the barker toad. Their legs are also used, to a lesser extent, in Herblore (for Agility potions). Gathering them is an easy, if somewhat boring activity, that anyone can do. The biggest problem is only at very low levels, because of the difficulty of just getting to the Grand Tree itself when you lack methods such as the gnome gliders, spirit trees and so forth. For this reason, if you go through the effort as a low level player, it is best to stay for a while. At higher levels getting to the area is a lot easier.
Other than getting to the spot, the method here is the same for all players. The advantages at higher levels include faster run energy restoration due to a higher Agility level, and the use of better quality beasts of burden (which cut down on running time and energy expenditure.)
Specific Method Details
First, get to the Gnome Stronghold easily by using a duelling ring to get to Al-Kharid, running west to the gnome glider there and taking it to the tree. Go down two flights of stairs and use the bank.
Equip yourself with weight reducing gear and summon a spirit terrorbird familiar. For each trip, take out Tireless Run scrolls and head over to the ladder. Go downstairs, exit the Grand Tree and run northwest. As you run, use the Tireless Run scrolls as needed. Use the northwest ramp leading down from the Grand Tree, run west and you'll find a swamp area with swamp toad spawns all over the place. Pick up toads, going around the marshy areas while minimizing run energy use; a full world helps with faster respawn times. When you have at least 12 toads put them in your terrorbird, then continue until your inventory is full.
Be sure to use up the scrolls so you can carry a full load of swamp toads. When done, return to the bank and store the toads, get out more scrolls and repeat.
