I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Mort myre fungus is a rather unique Herblore ingredient because unlike most others, you don't get it any of the usual ways: not from monsters, gathering, buying or growing. Instead, you use a special procedure that causes the fungus to appear on logs in the middle of the Mort Myre swamp. Getting small amounts of fungus this way is easy, but collecting large amounts requires some knowledge of the right techniques. The two main issues with getting the fungus are the need for prayer points to cause the fungus to grow (which means you must recharge prayer frequently) and also the need to get from the swamp to the bank and back again efficiently.
The best technique involves a combination of Teleport to House tablets and a portal to Kharyrll (Canifis) in your house. This way, after getting a load of fungus, you can quickly get to your house, recharge prayer and then use the portal to get to the bank in Canifis. A war tortoise or pack yak let you carry 18/30 extra fungus per trip, but this means you will run out of prayer points before you are full. To solve this I recommend using Zamorak brews -- most people don't realize that each dose, in addition to its other effects, restores 10% of your prayer. The brews do damage you, but in this situation that doesn't matter, and the brews are so much cheaper than prayer potions that this is a perfect use for them.
The Desert Treasure quest is sufficiently hard that I wouldn't expect someone with level 50 skills to be able to do it. So I devised an alternative method that will work as long as you have access to the town of Burgh de Rott. It makes use of the nature grotto to recharge prayer, and while it involves a fair bit of running, it can still be an effective moneymaking method.
Note that while Zamorak brews do damage you, they will not kill you -- the amount of damage taken reduces the lower your hitpoints level. Even so, I recommend eating periodically as getting your HP level too low puts you at risk of dying from a ghast attack or whatever.
