Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Bananas are used for a variety of purposes; they can be eaten as food, used as a secondary ingredient in Summoning, or given to NPC farmers as payment to watch over curry trees. It used to be possible to get large quantities of them quickly by buying them from charter ship stores, especially on the docks in Catherby. However, this method became impractical with the end of unlimited shops, so now you have to do things the old-fashioned way -- pick them from banana trees!
There are 33 banana trees on Karamja, and the amulet of glory teleport puts you right in the banana plantation for your convenience. The limiting factor in how fast you can get bananas is actually the respawn rate for the trees themselves, which is about 5 minutes and 10 seconds. This is about how long it takes to pick the trees, so it works out well, but this also means there is no advantage to higher level familiars here -- just use a spirit terrorbird.
Note that the respawn speed for fruit trees seems to be independent of the number of players on the server, so there's no need to try to find a full world for this.
You do need to periodically recharge amulets of glory. This can be a bit of a challenge at very low levels, and you may need to have a friend help you with this, or flip charged and uncharged amulets on the GE.
Specific Method Details
Equip an amulet of glory and ring of duelling, and take out from the bank a spirit terrorbird pouch and 27 baskets. Summon the terrorbird and put 12 baskets in it, then take out 5 more. Teleport to Karamja and go to the first tree right near where you land. Pick 5 bananas, then click an empty basket to fill it, and move to the next tree. Repeat 21 times until the baskets are all full. Then open your familiar and swap the full baskets for empty ones. Continue picking bananas until all of the baskets are full, then pick 5 more loose bananas. Teleport to Castle Wars, bank and repeat.
