General Description

This is an "old standby" for making money, which can be done by any player with even a low Crafting level. It is quick and provides a decent amount of Crafting XP, especially at low levels. You can use flax that you purchase from other players, obtain from the Kingdom of Miscellania, or gather yourself.

Lumbridge Castle is a good spot because it's just downstairs from the bank and little running is involved.

Note that there is no speed or money-making advantage at higher levels: spinning speed doesn't increase with Crafting level, little running means Agility doesn't matter, and a beast of burden doesn't help with this activity (in fact, it makes it slower!)

However, at mid-levels and above, a magpie familiar helps you earn extra money by foraging gems and rings.

Specific Method Details

Get to the bank in Lumbridge Castle by using one of the Home Teleport or Teleport to Lumbridge spells, and then heading upstairs. Withdraw a magpie familiar pouch and summon it; this will get you extra cash while you spin flax.

Withdraw 28 flax and then go down one flight of stairs. Click on the spinning wheel, then right-click and choose to make all of the flax into bowstrings. When done, go back upstairs to the bank, store the bowstrings and repeat. Periodically dump your familiar's foragings and renew its pouch. Once an hour you'll have to pause to recharge your Summoning points.
