Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success

General Description

Butter is an essential ingredient in cooking many other items, especially baked potatoes with toppings. Churning is the only way to get butter in large quantities; it is easy to do but rather boring and slow. As in so many other cases, those two characteristics -- "boring" and "slow" -- are exactly why you can make money so easily by doing this activity. You also get a small amount of Cooking XP for your trouble.

Fortunately, while churning is dull, it's also dead simple: you just buy some cream and then churn it into butter. The best spot for this is Zanaris. Also, the very slow speed of the process makes this an excellent multitasking activity.

Note that there is no speed or other advantage to higher levels when churning butter, so the method is the same for mid, high and very high levels. Also, it would be possible to do this at lower levels, but I don't assume that anyone below mid levels will generally have finished the Lost City quest.

Specific Method Details

Buy some cream on the Grand Exchange (or smaller amounts at the Culinaromancer's chest in Lumbridge) and then go to Zanaris; the easiest way is using the fairy ring near Edgeville. At the Zanaris bankers, withdraw 28 pots of cream and a magpie familiar. Summon the magpie; it will gather gems and rings for you so you earn extra money while churning. Run east a short ways to the churn, click it, then right-click and choose "Make X". Quickly enter any number larger than 28; a repeated digit is fastest, so I use "33" or "99" or something like that.

When done, return to the bank, store the butter and repeat. You can make around 500 per hour. Every half hour or so you'll need to renew your magpie pouch, and occasionally dump its foragings into your bank. There is a convenient Summoning obelisk just south of the churn.
