General Description

Wolf bones became valuable when Summoning was introduced to RuneScape, as they are a component in both a low-level and high-level pouch. Most players kill wolves for their bones at White Wolf Mountain, but it is actually somewhat faster to kill lower level wolves on the top level of the Stronghold of Security.

Low level players can kill the wolves continuously, but higher level players can kill the wolves very quickly so their slow respawn rate becomes the limiting factor on kill speed; you can take advantage of this extra time by also killing minotaurs in the same room. The minotaurs mostly have poor drops but do provide iron arrows that don't take inventory space, and even better, 15 noted pure essence at a time!

With level 50 skills your combat level should be above the 55 needed to avoid the level 27 minotaurs being aggressive, so I recommend going to the far southeast room in the dungeon, where there are level 11 wolves that are faster to kill.

Use a spirit terrorbird or better to carry extra drops.

Specific Method Details

Get to Edgeville and equip yourself with standard melee gear, but use an amulet of glory instead of an amulet of fury (so you can teleport -- you don't maximum stats here anyway). Take out a super attack and super set of any size, drink one dose of each and put the rest back in the bank. Take out a spirit terrorbird pouch (don't use a war tortoise -- not worth the pouch cost.) Run south to Barbarian Village and go down the hole in the center of town to access the stronghold. Go through the portal to the "treasure room" of the level, then go south through one set of double doors and then west through another; you'll be in a large room with tons of minotaurs and 5 level 11 wolves (towards the southwest a bit).

Kill all the wolves and pick up their bones, then kill minotaurs while waiting for the wolves to respawn. Pick up iron arrows and pick them in your quiver and also of course take any noted pure essence; leave other drops.

When you have a full inventory of bones summon the terrorbird and put 12 wolf bones in it; When your inventory is full, use your amulet of glory to teleport to Edgeville, bank and repeat.
