Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Spiritual mages are one of the many "secondary" (non-boss) monsters in the God Wars Dungeon. They are best known as the source of dragon boots, which many players actually "farm" them for (meaning that they kill hundreds or thousands over a long period of time for these drops.) In addition to this they provide moderate amounts of noted pure essence and a decent selection of runes. Since their drops don't require a lot of inventory space you can fight them for a long time. Their magical attacks are brutal so you need to use prayer at all times when fighting them.
Specific Method Details
Equip yourself with prayer gear and at least one piece of Zamorak equipment (so you don't get mobbed). If you have a Soul Wars cape, try a Zamorak mitre; if not, you can use a Zamorak cloak with a helm of Neitiznot.
Take out of the bank one or more super sets and prayer potions, numbers of which depend on how long you want to fight, and the gear you are wearing. Also take out a geyser titan pouch (or lesser combat familiar if your Summoning level is lower.)
Teleport to Trollheim, go down the rocks and run to the north, putting on Protection from Ranged before getting near the thrower trolls. Take the crevice (60 Agility) or move the boulder (60 Strength) to get to the ice area. Put on Protection from Melee and walk northeast to the entrance and go in. Go northeast and jump off the ledge to cross to the Zamorak Fortress. The evil of the area drains your prayer, so you'll have to restore it. The room also gets darker as you head towards the boss's room, which is where you should go since there are three spiritual mages there fairly close together.
Take your super set doses, turn on Protection from Magic, summon your familiar and start fighting. When done, teleport out and repeat.
On average, you should get a little over one set of dragon boots per hour.
