I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Cockatrices are interesting monsters to be on a moneymaking list, because they are a great example of a monster that drops items that at one time weren't good enough to make them worth bothering with, but which have greatly increased in value due to game changes and evolution. They drop large quantities of limpwurt roots and cockatrice eggs, which are used in Herblore and Summoning, along with good quantities of nature runes, and a few herbs as well. They are also a source of light (white/gold) mystic boots, and iron boots as well. Iron armor doesn't seem very interesting, but these boots are more valuable than you might expect, perhaps because they can be worn by combat "pures" who have a Defence level of 1.
Specific Method Details
At any bank, put on the equipment shown; be sure to remember the mirror shield, as without it, you'll take massive damage when you start fighting! Take out of the inventory a ring of duelling, ring of slaying, 2-dose super attack and super strength potions and a pack yak pouch.
Use the ring of slaying to teleport to Rellekka, and run east a bit to the entrance to the Slayer caves. Run west, then northeast and finally northwest to the room where the cockatrices are. Take your first super attack and strength doses and start fighting. Pick up all herb drops, nature and law runes, limpwurt roots and cockatrice eggs; summon the yak when needed for extra carrying capacity.
Cockatrices won't hit you much at all at this level, so you shouldn't need food. Take more potion doses regularly to keep kill speed up. It should take about 23 minutes or so to get a full inventory, depending on your luck. When you are ready, teleport to Castle Wars, bank and repeat.
