I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Chompy killing is usually called "hunting", because it represents a combination of normal ranged combat and elements of the Hunter skill, which chompy hunting preceded. It is done for fun and to get cool chompy hats, but can also be a way to make money, since raw chompy meat is the primary ingredient in wild pies and hence rather valuable.
The biggest nuisance with collecting the chompy meat is that it is very heavy, so it used to be necessary to use energy potions to restore lost energy. However, recent changes have made run energy restore naturally at a much higher rate, so this is no longer an issue.
At mid level and up you should have completed the Zogre Flesh Eaters quest, so you can wield the ogre composite bow. This is better than the regular bow, especially if you use good arrows like adamant brutals (rune brutals are better still, but pricey.) Use a spirit terrorbird at mid and high levels to carry extra chompy meat, or a pack yak at level 96. Don't use a war tortoise as its high pouch cost doesn't pay off here.
Specific Method Details
Use a duelling ring to teleport to Castle Wars, keep the ring on and equip your best ranging gear, an ogre composite bow and adamant brutal arrows, Take out from the bank a pack yak pouch and your bellows. Exit Castle Wars, run southeast, cross the bridge and then run west all the way to the swamp.
Now start hunting the chompies, using the standard method; at this level you probably already know how to do this, but refer to another source if necessary. Always pick up the raw chompy meat, and any arrows that your attractor doesn't get for you.
Store the chompies in the terrorbird to keep your weight down, and keep hunting until it is full and you have 26 raw chompies in your inventory (two spaces are reserved for the bellows and feathers). Teleport back to Castle Wars, bank and repeat.
Don't bother with a war tortoise here -- the bank is not far and the Tireless Run scrolls are cheaper than using energy potions.
