I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Killing Cave Slime - Mid Level
Category: Combat
Subcategory: Melee
General Description: Killing cave slime using melee at the ideal spot in the Dorgesh-Kaan South Dungeon, using standard level-appropriate melee gear and a magpie familiar.
Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Swamp tar is a valuable item used in Herblore, and cave slime drop 1-6 of them for each kill, making this a reliable money-maker.
At lower levels the Lumbridge Swamp Caves are a good spot; at higher levels you are better off in the Dorgesh-Kaan South Dungeon, because your faster kill speed means the three in Lumbridge aren't enough to keep you busy.
At higher levels, the magpie is an excellent forager that works well in the dungeon, gathering rings and uncut gems -- I've included an approximate value of its foraged items in the gold proceeds for the method.
Specific Method Details
Use the fairy rings to "A J Q" to get to the Dorgesh-Kaan South Dungeon, then run east, north, west and continue all the way to the far northwest corner where there are six of the monsters. Remember your covered light source -- a bullseye lantern works well, or a sapphire lantern if you have that instead.
These monsters poison on contact so you need super antipoisons, and super attack/strength pots will increase kill speed, but you don't need food. Since the swamp tar stacks you can stay here a very long time if you bring lots of super antis.
Be sure to take the iron boots, which seem useless but sell for good money!
