I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Like flesh crawlers, cave crawlers are another superb herb monster that add to their Herblore bounty some other good drops, including lots of Herblore secondary ingredients. These are Slayer monsters, but only require level 10 Slayer, and they are easy to kill even with level 30 skills, though obviously higher level players will do so much more quickly. These monsters have a deadly poison (8 damage) but it only impacts you when they hit, so at very high levels you rarely need antipoison. At mid and low levels I recommend super antipoisons as you will get hit much more often.
Getting to the cavern is a bit of a nuisance for low level players, but those at mid levels and above can get their very quickly using rings of slaying.
With monsters that drop a large number of herbs, there are trade-offs between keeping all the herbs or leaving the lower-valued ones so you can try to get more of the ones that cost more. There is also a trade-off between using a beast of burden to get more herbs per trip, or summoning a macaw for its herb enhancing benefit, because the macaw increases the percentage of good herbs (ranarr and above) by a hefty 40%. The key factors that determine the best approach are the number of herbs you get per hour from the monster, the distance to the bank (and thus how much time you waste per hour banking if you take more trips) and the value of non-herb drops.
These monsters drop many herbs but also a lot of other non-stackable items, which would suggest that a beast of burden would be best. However, they are also extremely close to a bank, effectively, because you can get there within 30 seconds using a cheap ring of slaying. Accordingly, I recommend using a macaw here to improve herb quality and banking all the herbs and other good drops you get.
Specific Method Details
Bank anywhere, putting on standard melee gear and a ring of duelling. Get out a macaw pouch, a ring of slaying, a 4-dose regular antipoison, and any size super attack and super strength potions. Drink one dose of the super potions and put the rest back in the bank.
Rub the ring of slaying and go to the Fremennik Slayer Cave, then enter it just to the east; the crawlers are in the first room, so it is very fast to get to them. Summon the macaw and start fighting the cave crawlers. Pick up all herbs, good seeds (sweetcorn or better), gems, nature runes, bronze boots, charms and other valuable drops (including secondary ingredients like red spiders' eggs and unicorn horn dust). Leave behind the vials of water, unless you want to put some herbs into them immediately and either make potions out of them later or sell them as unfinished potions. Take antipoison doses if you get hit for damage. At this level it will only take you 6-8 minutes to get a full inventory; you can drop the unused portion of the antipoison to get one more inventory slot, then pick it up when you return from banking. When your inventory is in fact full, teleport to Castle Wars and bank there. You only need to take the super attack and super strength potions every other trip.
