Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success

General Description

Aviansies have become one of the most popular monsters in the game to fight for both money and experience. They must be ranged or maged; their most important drop is noted adamantite bars, which they provide 4 at a time about 1 in every 4 or 5 kills. They are also good sources of runes, herbs, feathers, alchable runite items and more.

Like most of the good money monsters, they are easy to kill -- the problem is other players. At one time it was fairly easy to get a world to yourself to fight these, but lately there is lots of competition for the best spots. I strongly recommend fighting aviansies during quieter times of the day, if at all possible -- do some other money-making activities during peak periods.

Very high level players kill aviansies so quickly that they end up standing around waiting for respawns or fighting with other players, and using the multiple monster poison technique is impossible. So I recommend leaving the normal combat area where all the other players are, and going into Armadyl's Eyrie itself. The aviansies there are higher in level and take longer to kill, but there are far fewer people and you can fight many at once easily. Plus, the higher level aviansies

make using a combat familiar more worthwhile -- the geyser titan is an excellent choice as it has both a melee and ranged attack and tons of hitpoints.

Specific Method Details

You pretty much must use prayer here to avoid getting slaughtered, and should try to balance your gear for both ranged attack bonus and prayer bonus. You must bring a mithril grapple, and should use enchanted emerald bolts.

Put on your gear at any bank, and then take out the following: 2 law runes, 252 fire runes, 50 nature runes, two 4-dose ranging potions (or more, if you want to stay longer), 12 4-dose prayer potions (or more), mithril grapple, lots of enchanted emerald bolts, holy wrench, one or more geyser titan pouches (depending on trip length) and a 1-dose regular restore potion.

Teleport to Trollheim, go down the rocks and run to the north, putting on Protection from Ranged before getting near the thrower trolls. Take the crevice (60 Agility) or move the boulder (60 Strength) to get to the ice area -- the Agility one is faster. Put on Protection from Melee and walk northeast to the entrance, then go in.

Go south towards the entrance to Armadyl's Eyrie. Use your grapple to cross into the area, and you should find a bunch of aviansies right in front of you, mostly ranging in level from 73 to 94. Use your restore potion, then take a ranging potion sip, summon your geyser titan, turn on Protection from Ranged, and start firing away.

The goal here should be to first poison as many aviansies as possible in the area, then finish them off one by one. The poison will help speed up kills by reducing the HP of the ones other than the one you are currently fighting. Your geyser titan will also help somewhat, though it's not a huge amount. Whenever you see a new aviansie spawn, poison it. Also watch for drops due to aviansies dying from poison or your familiar (don't cover too large an area for this reason.)

If you bring enough potions you can stay for two hours or more, making very good money and getting lots of XP as well. When out of supplies (or just bored), teleport out using runes dropped by the aviansies, then repeat the process as desired.
