I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Method Description, Instructions and Tips for Success
General Description
Abyssal demons are one of the most famous monsters in the game, since they are the only source of the legendary abyssal whip, a standby for all high-level characters. At one time, whips were extremely valuable, and many players got very rich by "farming" whips from the demons. Over the years, the value of these weapons has varied quite a bit; my whip cost me 3 million when I bought it in mid-2006, but by 2008 the price had dropped down to only 1 million. The price has since recovered, but their drop rate is also quite low, thus abyssal demons aren't the "get rich quick" scheme they once were. But they are still a good drop, and the demons themselves are far easier to kill than their level suggests. They also have other pretty good drops, including herbs, addy bars and plenty of runite items. In fact many of their drops are alchables and "miscellaneous", which explains the high gold "output" value of 80k.
Note that only an extremely high level method is defined here, because the high Slayer level requirement means most players have maxed combat skills by the time they can fight abyssals.
Specific Method Details
I recommend using Dharoks to fight abyssal demons, because it speeds up kills by about 10%, and the demons themselves are not very dangerous. There's no really ideal familiar for them, but a macaw is always a decent choice to get better herbs.
Get on your Dharoks and other melee gear, and take from the bank a couple of super sets, 10 baskets of strawberries, a couple of macaw pouches, some alching runes, a ring of slaying and a nose peg. Put on the nose peg, then use the ring to teleport to the Canifis Slayer Tower. Go inside and climb the spiked chain, then run up the stairs to the top level. Run past the gargoyles and nechryaels to the abyssal demons.
Put your Dharoks helmet back, take your super set, summon the macaw and start fighting. You will usually get best results on the "Crush" setting, and if starting from full health may wish to temporarily fight without armor to knock your health down a bit. Use the strawberries to keep your health at a level you feel comfortable with -- they are perfect for Dharoking as they are cheap, let you heal 6 at a time, and pack 30 HP of healing in a small space. (For reference, the maximum hit of abyssal demons is 8.)
When you are out of supplies or your inventory is full, use Home Teleport, bank and repeat.
