Access Directions | Brimhaven is the conventional location, but it's hard to get to, and there are wild dogs in the bronze dragon area that will annoy players below level 127 combat. I prefer the Chaos Tunnels, but beware that it is multicombat. This usually isn't a big deal, but if you aren't using prayer, watch out for the two dragons tag-teaming you.
For Brimhaven, bank in Ardougne, then pay for the boat ride and run south to the dungeon and pay Saniboch his 875 gp fee to enter. An alternative to coming from Ardougne is to teleport home if your house is in Brimhaven, then just exit the portal.
Once in the dungeon, head west, chop the vines, and take the second passage heading north (the first is blocked by more vines.)
Go to the end of this passage, and hop the stones across the lava (level 12 Agility). Run south and you'll find passages leading southeast and south; take the south one, which brings you to a chamber with fire giants. Run all the way to the southeast and chop vines to enter an "O-shaped" room. Go to the east and chop the vines again and you'll enter the black demon area. The bronze dragons are in a chamber to the east, so sip your antifire potion and stat boosting potions and put on Protection from Melee (if appropriate) before proceeding through.
To access their spot in the Chaos Tunnels, use the rope northwest of Edgeville, where the gargoyles are. Take the northwest portal and run west past the mummies, then take the northwest portal to the monks of Zamorak. Run northeast and take the portal to the dust devils, then the portal just NW of there to the black demons, and run west past them. Take the portal there to the room with the earth warriors and bronze dragons; the dragons are to the south. |
Equipment | Prayer gear is normally recommended for meleeing, as it is simpler and safer, but very high level players will be fine wearing high defence armor and using food. For ranging, use your best range attack bonus equipment; for maging, Ahrim's is recommended.
Normally you also must wear an anti-dragon shield or dragonfire shield; the latter is preferred for meleeing because of its +7 Strength bonus. Players who are able to make super antifire potions, though, can skip the shield entirely. This allows the use of two-handed weapons and Barrows set effects, which can be very advantageous here. I use full Dharoks on bronze dragons, which allows me to achieve kill rates approaching 100 per hour.
Using a dragon dagger (p++) here may be worthwhile, especially if you aren't very high level. While the weapon is weak and often hits zeroes, you can speed up a few kills if you're lucky enough to get a dragon poisoned. On the other hand, very high-level players kill these fast enough that the dagger isn't worth the bother.
If praying, bring your holy wrench to get extra prayer points. |
Supplies | Plan on 10 doses of antifire potion per hour of combat, or 11-12 doses of super antifire if using them. You need more of the latter because you should really take another dose when you get the 30 second warning -- running out of potion with no shield is not a great idea, especially if Dharoking!
If meleeing without prayer, bring a load of decent food and super or extreme sets. If using prayer, bring prayer potions and super/extreme sets; you can also use Zamorak brews if you prefer.
For ranging, you still need the antifire potions, but not the prayer potions. Add at least two 4-dose ranging potions to increase your kill speed.
To get to the dragons from Ardougne, you need 905 gold coins for the boat and entry fee to the dungeon, and a cheap axe to cut the vines within it. I also recommend a super energy potion so you can run the entire way to the dragons. If going to the Chaos Tunnels, you should instead bring a one-click teleport.
For ranging, I recommend enchanted emerald bolts and broad-tipped bolts. Start with the emerald (e) to poison, then switch.
For maging, either use fire bolt with chaos gauntlets (cheap but slower) or a higher level spell to get faster kills and more XP, at a higher cost.
Bring with nature and fire runes, as these dragons drop armor and weapons worth alching. |
Familiar | If fighting without prayer and planning to stay for a long time, you might want to use a healing familiar. In most cases, though, you are better off with a beast of burden, so you can carry home dragon bones and other drops.
If you have a pack yak, bringing with some Winter Storage scrolls for remote banking can let you stay longer and get more kills and bones per hour. |
Combat Notes | These are the weakest of the metal dragons, and really not too difficult for higher-level players. If you do decide to fight them without prayer, though, watch your life points carefully.
Spread out your Zammy brews and super strengths. Listen for the sound that plays when your antifire wears off (about every six minutes) or just take another swig when you start taking firebreath damage.
If you are maging or ranging, simply stand out of melee range and fire away; the dragons will simply attack with firebreath rather than closing to melee you. Just be careful when going to pick up drops and/or ammunition.
These dragons are often crowded during busy times, due to players trying to get a dragon leg/skirt drop. Again, the Chaos Tunnels spot is better in this regard. |
Drop Notes | The main draw of these dragons drop-wise is that they give a chance at dragon platelegs/plateskirts, while also being easy enough to kill quickly so you can get lots of dragon bones. As the lowest-level metal dragons, bronzes have the worst chance of giving dragon platelegs or plateskirts as drops, but I have actually gotten one myself in the past. They also drop decent numbers of runes and armor/weapon items for their level, and a moderate number of charms. |
