I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Get to the Slayer Tower quickly using a slayer ring, by walking over from Canifis, or using the "C K S" fairy ring . Go up the spiked chain (level 61 Agility) and run southwest to climb the stairs. Go east, north and then west, past the gargoyles and nechryaels, to the demons.
The alternative location has a number of demons in it, as well as other abyssal creatures. It's a nice spot that's quick to get to, though the demons are spread out. To fight here, use fairy ring code "A L R". When you arrive, I recommend going northwest a few clicks, where you'll find a couple of abyssal demons in an area where the aggressive abyssal walkers won't go after you. Bank in Zanaris as needed.
If you are on assignment, the best place to fight these is Kuradal's Dungeon.
Equipment
Traditionally, Guthans has been the usual recommended armor for fighting abyssal demons, using a whip or other weapon to start and switching to the warspear as needed. Higher-level players, however, don't need Guthans, especially if using a healing familiar. This frees up slots for enhancing gear like a fighter torso or helm of Neitiznot.
Dharoks is quite effective at the abyssal demons, and prayer is not needed because the demons hit only up to 80.
If you get these demons on a Slayer assignment, fight them wearing a Slayer helmet and ferocious ring in Kuradal's Dungeon.
The demons can be ranged or maged, but there are no safe spots and the demons teleport you around. If you do want to range, a crystal bow is recommended, unless you don't mind either losing some ammo or chasing it down.
Supplies
Super/extreme sets are recommended to speed up kills. Bring a small number of cheap food items you can consume quickly to make space for drops, and then a bit of higher-quality food (unless using a healing familiar).
If taking the spiked chain shortcut in the Slayer Tower, don't forget a nose peg to get past the aberrant spectres. Drop it once past them, to make room for more drops.
Bring about 15 sets of alching runes for their armor and weapon drops.
If you want to speed up your kill rate, bring prayer potions and use Piety or Turmoil.
Familiar
Many players use bunyips or unicorn stallions at the abyssal demons, which lets them complete long tasks or "camp" for extended periods of time. However, extremely high level players don't even need these. In fact, on an abyssals task, using a combination of my Saradomin godsword special and occasional use of the Soul Split ancient curse, I don't really need any food or healing at all! Even if you do need healing, you're better off bringing a beast of burden with cheap food in it like salmon, so you can take home more of the demons' herb, addy bar and other drops.
Combat Notes
For a level 124 monster needing 85 Slayer, abyssal demons really are wimps. In fact, they are much easier to fight than several monsters with lower Slayer requirements. They only hit a maximum of about 80, and not terribly often at that. They do have a lot of life points, though.
The demons' special attack is their ability to teleport you and themselves a couple of squares away. This is more annoying than problematic, however -- just make sure you keep auto-retaliate on so you continue attacking after it happens.
Drop Notes
In addition to the famous abyssal whip -- which is a fairly rare drop -- these demons have pretty good secondary drops. They are moderate herb droppers, provide pure essence 60 at a time, and a decent selection of runes. They are also pretty frequent rune armor/weapon droppers, and provide a good number of crimson charms as well.
Note that regular defence potions, such as those dropped by these monsters, are valuable now -- keep them.
The rune battleaxe is a somewhat rare drop, and getting four rune drops of any sort in an hour is a bit unusual. It's been a long time since I got a whip...
I told you four rune drops in an hour was unusual. :) Meanwhile, this time I got much better charm drops and a rare silver ore drop. Note that the SGS didn't speed up kills but I only used one piece of food for a whole hour, without Guthans or a familiar!
Dharoks is faster, and really not that risky here even without prayer.
Exceptionally good rune armor drops.. but still no whip!
