I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

These monsters are in the Troll Stronghold. The only convenient way of getting there requires you to have completed Eadger's Ruse to unlock the Trollheim Teleport spell. Assuming you have, bank anywhere, then cast the spell. Go down the rocks just north of where you arrive, then run southwest and down off the mountain, then go west and then curve north to the entrance to the stronghold. After you enter run south, go through the door and head north to the ladder; pause there until ready to fight. There are three generals, in separate areas, just to the west and north.
If you can't cast Trollheim Teleport you will have to take the long route from Burthorpe, which I can't be bothered to describe in detail here, sorry. :)
Equipment
These monsters can be meleed, ranged or maged from safe spots, or hallyed. If you are meleeing them head on, use prayer gear.
Dharoks is effective here, but again, you must use prayer, and since the Dharoks set has no prayer bonuses it will drain a bit faster. One way to help offset this is to use one of the new Soul Wars capes from the quest Nomad's Requiem -- the +12 prayer bonus is quite nice. Also bring with your holy wrench to save a couple of more points.
Supplies
For meleeing with prayer, bring Zamorak brews, super strengths and prayer potions; for hallying, the same but leave off the prayer pots.
For ranging bring ranging pots and ammunition, and for maging, appropriate runes.
I strongly recommend bringing a bit of "emergency" food regardless of method, in case you make a mistake, or to heal damage done by the Zammy brews.
Bring about 20 sets of alching runes as they frequently drop armor and weapons.
Familiar
I recommend a beast of burden to carry back their herb, gem and big bone drops.
Combat Notes
That's not a typo -- these are only level 113 but have a max hit of 380. So if you are not fighting from a safe spot, use prayer unless you have a death wish! And if you are using prayer, be sure you watch your prayer points carefully, as running out here can be deadly.
Being on the new ancient curses is worthwhile for these monsters. Using Deflect Melee instead of Protection from Melee means a few extra points are recoiled onto the monsters; it's not a huge difference, but every bit helps.
These monsters have a long respawn time so you'll want to alternate between two of the spawns rather than waiting around. High level players should also be sure to fight on a full world; fortunately, these monsters are usually not very crowded.
Drop Notes
These monsters are best known as being a primary source of granite shields, which are nice items, even if they aren't nearly as valuable as they once were. They are also good sources of nature and earth runes and drop plenty of alchable armor and weapon items, and give big bones on every kill.
