I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Mummy - Access and Combat Recommendations
Access Directions
Mummies were originally found only in the large pyramid that is part of the Desert Treasure quest, but they are also now in two rooms in the Chaos Tunnels as well. The pyramid is somewhat of a deathtrap, so fighting in the Chaos Tunnels makes more sense.
The mummies are in two rooms in the tunnels; to get to them, bank in Edgeville and run northwest to the "gargoyle entrance". Then just run west, take either of the portals there and you will end up in either of the two rooms where the mummies are found. Simple!
Equipment
Wear prayer gear -- period. These monsters are aggressive, hit hard and are in a multicombat area, so trying to fight without prayer is a death sentence.
For ranging (including using chinchompas) try to balance ranged attack bonus with prayer bonus.
Supplies
For meleeing, bring Zamorak brews and super strengths along with prayer potions. For ranging, bring ranging potions and prayer potions, and of course your ammunition of choice. I also strongly recommend a one-click teleport any time you go to the Chaos Tunnels (in case of a misdirected teleport, or revenant attack on the way to the tunnels themselves.)
Bring about 10 or so sets of alching runes as well.
Familiar
This is one place where using a combat familiar can be helpful. I use a geyser titan because it gives Ranged XP, but you can use almost any familiar that does a decent amount of damage.
Combat Notes
Mummies have a good number of life points and mediocre drops, so they are generally considered training monsters. They are especially well-regarded as monsters for training ranged using chinchompas, since they are aggressive and tend to congregate around players, so chinchompas can hit many at once. Just make sure your prayer doesn't run out, or you're in for a world of hurt. That's especially the case when ranging since there is no good ranging armor that provides a substantial prayer bonus.
Note that you cannot get an Ancient staff drop from these until you complete Desert Treasure, and even then you can only get one if you don't already have one.
Drop Notes
As mentioned above, these monsters have very poor drops, so don't expect much if you fight them. They mostly drop individual jewelry items, unnoted gold ore, coins and junk.
