I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

The most popular spot for fire giants is the Waterfall Dungeon, which you learn how to access during the quest of the same name. You need Glarial's amulet and a rope to get into the dungeon. To get there quick, use a games necklace to teleport to Barbarian Outpost. Run south and cross the bridge, continuing to Almera's house. Hop on the raft, then use your rope on the rock and then tree to get to the waterfall ledge. Wear Glarial's amulet to enter the dungeon, then switch back to your combat amulet/necklace and drop the rope. There are two rooms, to the north and northwest, with fire giants in them. The room to the north is better for ranging. Beware of the shadow spiders before the giants' rooms, as they are aggressive to level 104 or below and drain half your Prayer points with each hit!
The giants are in two spots in Brimhaven Dungeon. Bank in Ardougne, then pay for the boat ride to Brimhaven, and run south to the dungeon and pay Saniboch his 875 gp fee to enter.
Once in the dungeon head west, chop the vines, and take the second passage heading north.
Go to the end of this passage, and hop the stones across the lava (level 12 Agility). Run south and you'll find passages leading southeast and south; take the south one, which brings you to a chamber with fire giants. Alternately, you can take the stairs just west of the passage leading to the fire giant room and head north to find more of them.
There are three rooms of fire giants in the Chaos Tunnels, but one is much easier to get to than the other three. Bank in Edgeville or at the Grand Exchange, then enter the Wilderness on the east side of the River Lum. Run northwest, then north, until you see the crevice entrance. You'll be in a room with giant rock crabs; take the portal just to the northwest of the entrance and you're there.
Equipment
For meleeing, I like to use Guthans for its defence, switching to the warspear to heal if needed. (Those with Defence levels below about 90 will need to heal; those above 90 using good food will not in a one-hour trip.)
Meleers can also use Dharoks for faster kills, but be careful as they hit up to 11. Of course, prayer is an option.
To range, use standard ranging gear and work from safe spots.
If you plan to fight these in the Chaos Tunnels, you may wish to use Prayer gear even at high levels -- it is multicombat and they will team up on you. You can also use a cannon in the Waterfall Dungeon -- though it won't make me you very popular.
Be sure to wear a black mask or Slayer helmet if on a Slayer assignment, for about a 10% kill speed increase. If you are on assignment, and have a Slayer helmet, fighting these in the Smoke Dungeon is a good way to get away from the crowds.
Supplies
For meleeing, use super sets and bring with good food, unless fighting with prayer; if using a healing familiar, you can get by with cheaper food. (Note that I used pineapple pizzas in my logs, but that was when they cost under 500 gp each; there are more economical options now.)
Rangers should bring with food as well, because it is guaranteed that the fire giants will get some licks in when you are picking up drops.
Bring a few nature runes for alching (they drop lots of fires).

Familiar
Use a healing familiar here; the bunyip is a good choice. It will let you get by with much less food than you'd need otherwise. You can use a combat familiar if fighting in the Chaos Tunnels, but you'll pretty much need prayer in that case, and I haven't found the familiar's fighting to make a lot of difference.
Combat Notes
Fire giants have long been one of the most commonly used training monsters in the game, and their generous charm drop rate makes them even more popular now. During peak times they can get quite crowded, so using an alternate location is suggested.
Meleeing fire giants is straightforward: just run up and attack. :) They have low defence and die quickly, but can lay down some decent hits if you don't have good levels, equipment and technique. Watch your life points carefully. That goes double if fighting in a multicombat area, where they can be deadly.
Ranging in the Waterfall Dungeon is best done in the middle room. There is a "pseudo safe spot" just inside the right door of the double doors; it usually works, though not always, so pay attention. Many rangers also like to fight them across the table in that room, but this doesn't work until you've been in the room long enough for the giants to lose their aggressiveness. Before that, if you try to set up across the table from one, a different one will attack you.
Some players also like to use a halberd here, but I think it is far too slow to be worthwhile.
Drop Notes
Fire giants provide a good selection of useful drops, including big bones on each kill, tons of fire runes, some chaos and blood runes, rune arrows and herbs. They are also consistent charm droppers (mostly gold), and are well-known for their occasional rune scimitar drops.
