I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Zamorak Mage - Access and Combat Recommendations
Access Directions
Zamorak warriors can be fought by themselves, with other Zamorak fighter types, or in combination with a variety of monsters in the Ourania Cave. For info on fighting in the cave, please refer to the discussion of the Zamorak Crafter.
Zamorak mages are found in several rooms in the Chaos Tunnels, though never by themselves. In some rooms they are joined by Zamorak warriors and/or rangers, while in others, they are accompanied by Dagon'hai monks.
The room with the monks is actually the best one, because they also use a magic attack; the other rooms mean having to deal with a variety of attack styles which is far from optimal.
To get to the right place, bank in Edgeville and then run northeast, crossing into the Wilderness on the east side of the bridge. Run northwest and then north to the entrance, go in and you'll be in a giant rock crab room. Use the portal in the northwest to get to a fire giant room, then take the portal in the far west of that room. You'll arrive in a small area with four Zamorak Warriors (Level 85) and one Zamorak Warrior (Level 84). Run to the southeast corner and take the portal there to the Zamorak mage room.
Equipment
For information on equipment for fighting in the Ourania Cave, please refer to the discussion of the Zamorak Crafter.
To fight the warriors by themselves in the Chaos Tunnels, prayer equipment is strongly advised -- the magic attacks hit hard, from a distance, and the Dagon'hai monks also will come after you.
Supplies
For information on supplies for fighting in the Ourania Cave, please refer to the discussion of the Zamorak Crafter.
To fight the mages in the Chaos Tunnels, assuming you are using prayer, bring Zamorak brews, super strengths and prayer potions. Also bring a one-click teleport in case you get into trouble.
Familiar
For information on familiars for fighting in the Ourania Cave, please refer to the discussion of the Zamorak Crafter.
In the Chaos Tunnels, I recommend bringing a combat familiar to help out with combat.
Combat Notes
For combat notes on fighting in the Ourania Cave, please refer to the discussion of the Zamorak Crafter.
The Chaos Tunnels are the best place to fight these, as they are closer together and you don't have to worry about being attacked by warriors, rangers, or pesky Cave Lizards. Just watch your prayer points and you'll be fine.
Since these have a slow respawn speed and there's only three of them in the room, if you kill them fast you might have to wait for a respawn. This is the main reason why I got fewer kills from these than I did fighting the warriors, even though these die faster as they have lower defence.
Note that this monster is pretty much identical to the Zamorak Mage (Level 84), except for combat level and appearance.
Drop Notes
For general drop notes when fighting in the Ourania Cave, please refer to the discussion of the Zamorak Crafter.
I attempted to kill mostly the Zamorakians and only fought the lizards when necessary (since they have no drops.) All charms were from the Zamorak mages and warriors.
The room has two level 82 mages and one level 84, so they were killed in that ratio.
