I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

To fight these dagannoths you need to have completed Horror from the Deep. Then simply go down the iron ladder in the Lighthouse in the far west of Fremennik Province. Go through the rune door and down another ladder and you're in the room where you fought the dagannoth mother in the quest; there are lots of level 74 and 92 dagannoths here.
The fastest way to get to the Lighthouse is to use a games necklace to teleport to Barbarian Outpost, then run north and cross over the basalt columns. Otherwise get to Rellekka in any of several ways and run far southwest and then west.
Equipment
The area is multicombat and the monsters are aggressive, so caution is advised. The level 74 dagannoths use ranged, while the 92s have a melee attack.
These monsters don't hit nearly as hard as the Dagannoths (Level 88) or Dagannoths (Level 90) found in Waterbirth, so despite the multicombat area, very high-level players can get by without prayer. Players who are mid-level to higher level should wear Veracs for melee defence and use Protection from Ranged, especially if using a cannon (which causes more attacks, naturally.)
Those who have completed the quest Blood Runs Deep get Balmung, a "legendary" battleaxe that hits accurately and hard on dagannoths. However, it is a slow weapon, and in my tests I was disappointed to find that using it was no faster than the traditional whip and defender combination. I did a subsequent test using Dharoks, and it is 15% faster than either, so for very high levels, that's the way to go. These also don't hit so hard that prayer is needed -- you can Dharok with just some strawberry baskets if you pay attention and don't get too cute with your LP.
This has traditionally been one of the most popular places in RuneScape to use a cannon, especially by those looking to complete dagannoth Slayer tasks quickly. It is undeniably quick, but it can get expensive, especially with the cost of cannonballs these days. That said, the value of herb seeds has also gone up tremendously, and it doesn't take many snapdragon, dwarf weed and torstol seeds to cover quite a few cannonballs.
Supplies
Bring super sets regardless of the armor you are wearing. If using Guthans, bring plenty of good food so you don't have to use the warspear for healing too much. Even if using prayer you will need some food -- depending on your combat stats -- since you are facing two attack styles.
If you are very high level and are using a healing familiar, you can get by with cheap food, just using it up as needed to make space for drops. This is what I did in my second, most recent drop log below.
Alching runes are not generally needed here.
Familiar
This is an excellent place to use the bunyip Summoning familiar. It will heal 80 LP a minute -- often enough so a high-level player doesn't need to heal with Guthans. You can also use its Swallow Whole scroll to get extra healing from the dagannoths' raw fish drops, or use the bunyip to turn these into water runes.
Combat Notes
You will fight a combination of Dagannoths (Level 74) and Dagannoths (Level 92) in this area. The dagannoths are aggressive and will attack you immediately when you go down the ladder. The level 74s are more aggressive than the 92s, they attack from a distance and there are more of them, so you'll kill more of them than the 92s. As I said above, these don't hit nearly as hard as other dagannoths, but there's a lot of them, so you must always be careful.
If you don't want to face too many of these at once, stay near the ladder. You can also run up it if you ever get into a situation where you need a break or have to log out.
To use a cannon, set it up in the center of the room to hit as many dagannoths as possible. Please be considerate -- if possible, try to avoid doing this during peak times or if other players are around. Definitely do not set up a cannon if someone else is already using one; switch worlds.
After about 10 minutes the dagannoths will lose aggressiveness as long as you stay in one spot. This makes life a bit easier in terms of reducing damage you take, though you do then have to chase down your prey. :) For this reason, some prefer to actually make the monsters aggressive again. Of course, if you're using a cannon, it doesn't matter anyway.
Drop Notes
These monsters drop mainly herb seeds, miscellaneous seeds, raw fish, and junk (lobster pots, harpoons, iron spears, etc.). The seeds are valuable and should be kept, of course. Low-level raw fish can be fed to a bunyip or used for healing if necessary. You'll also occasionally get some noted seaweed, which is a nice bonus.
