I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Mogre - Access and Combat Recommendations
Access Directions
To fight these monsters you must first help Skippy deal with his hangover. He's located near the water just south of Rimmington; talk to him, then bring him a bucket of water, nettle tea and hangover cure (milk with chocolate dust and snape grass mixed in).
Once this is done, run south to mudskipper point to find the "ominous fishing spots" where mogres are found. In the future you can easily access the mogres by using fairy ring code "AIQ".
Equipment
These monsters hit fairly hard for their level, but you're generally okay using standard melee gear; I have not yet tried ranging or maging them, since it seems like it would be hassle due to the way you have to lure them out of the water (see below).
A black mask or Slayer helmet will increase your accuracy and damage if you get these as a Slayer assignment.
Supplies
You need fishing explosive or super fishing explosive to lure the mogres out of the water. Fishing explosive can be purchased for 60 gp each from any Slayer master. Super fishing explosive is a potion you make using guam leaf and rubium, an ore you can mine after finishing the quest Kennith's Concerns. It is the same as regular fishing explosive, but in addition to luring a mogre out of the water, it does 150 damage to the mogre to get you started. I only recommend using super fishing explosive if you already have some in your bank, though, as making it is extremely slow and not worth the savings of 60 gp per vial nor the 150 LP of damage.
Aside from the explosive, you will need some food for healing (unless using a bunyip), and I recommend super sets as well. You are right next to a fairy ring so there's no need to bring a ton of supplies with you. The mogres also drop both noted and unnoted raw fish and even logs, so you can cook food to heal on the spot if you prefer (just bring a tinderbox.)
Familiar
I recommend using a bunyip here, if you have the level for it. The bunyip will keep you healed up, and you can also feed lesser raw fish drops like sardines and herring to it, which will turn them into stackable (and valuable) water runes.
If you can't use a bunyip, bring a beast of burden to carry home big bones and unnoted fish drops.
Combat Notes
These are easy monsters made annoying by the need to lure them out of the water one at a time. You must click on the fishing explosive or super fishing explosive and then on one of the "ominous fishing spots". In a few seconds a mogre will appear, say something ogrish (like "I smack you good!") and attack. The flashing yellow arrow means only you can attack a mogre you lure.
You must be standing at least three squares back from the fishing spot to toss the explosive in. One good spot is just west of the fairy ring, standing one square east of the broken fishing rod spawn. This causes the mogre to spawn just north of the broken rod, where I can kill it quickly, grab any drops of interest and then return back to my spot to do the next one. Another good location is right on the coast a few squares south of the fishing spot.
Drop Notes
These are not the best drop monsters, but do provide decent numbers of noted and unnoted fish (up to shark), a few seeds here and there and a bit of seaweed as well.
Like all ogre variants, they also drop big bones on each kill, and since they are not far from a bank (fairy ring wise) it is worth keeping them.
