Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Abyssal Guardian - Access and Combat Recommendations

Access Directions

The primary location of these monsters is the Abyss, but I advise against fighting them there. You will be skulled and your prayer drained, and you risk revenant attack. Even worse, though, you'll be in a multicombat area under constant attack from the level 81 Abyssal Walkers.

Instead, use the fairy rings to go to code "A L R", the Abyssal Plane. Run north and then west and you'll find an abyssal guardian with no walkers nearby. These monsters have an exceptionally fast respawn speed so you only need one monster.

Bank in Zanaris as needed.

Equipment

Use standard melee gear if fighting in the Abyssal Plane; prayer gear is recommended if you want to fight in the Abyss itself (though I don't recommend that).

Dharoks is also very effective in the Abyssal Plane, and will increase kill count by a decent percentage.

Bring with your largest essence pouch to gather the unnoted pure essence these monsters drop.

Oh, and don't forget your dramen/lunar staff!

Supplies

Super sets are recommended to speed kills and reduce damage. I recommend using 2-dose potions as you will bank frequently to store abyssal charms.

High-level players don't need food, but mid-level and lower players will; you'll have to experiment to figure out how much you need.

Familiar

A beast of burden is very useful here -- store talismans and other tradeables in the beast to save inventory space for abyssal charms (which cannot be put in a familiar.)

Combat Notes

Note that these monsters provide one quarter of normal combat XP. This means they are obviously not something you fight for training purposes, but rather for their drops!

They are only level 59 and they will rarely hit, but when they do it can be up to 11 damage, so watch out -- especially if Dharoking!

If you start to get attacked by an abyssal walker, just run away and come back after it has moved further from the guardian you're after, or switch to another one. If you accidentally attack an abyssal demon and can't kill it due to your Slayer level, run away and come back and it will ignore you.

Drop Notes

Abyssal guardians are excellent talisman monsters, dropping quite a variety of them in fairly large numbers. They are also a good source of regular green charms and the special abyssal charms that can be used to make the very valuable abyssal familiars.
