I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Ogre - Access and Combat Recommendations
Access Directions
The area near Castle Wars is the simplest to get to, and for that reason, also the most crowded. Just use a duelling ring to get to CW, then run east, cross the bridge to the south, and continue east to find them.
The ones in the "blood rune tower" are a better choice if you have the level 46 Thieving needed to pick the lock on the main door. There's also a nice cross-training opportunity here... see below! Bank in the north Ardougne bank, then run west, cross the log, continue northwest to the tower where the chaos druids are. Pick the lock, go down the ladder and the ogres are to the south.
I don't really have much experience with the other areas, and there's not generally much reason to use them.
Equipment
For meleeing, wear standard meleeing gear, or use Dharoks. For ranging or maging, wear regular gear as safe spots are abundant and easy to use.
Supplies
These hit fairly hard for their level, so if you are meleeing then bring cheap food (high-levels), decent food (mid-levels) or good food (low-levels). I use strawberry baskets when Dharoking.
As always, super sets are recommended. If Dharoking, you can use Zammy brews instead of the super attacks.
Bring a beast of burden if you want to bank the plentiful big bone drops, otherwise don't bother.
Familiar
Bring a beast of burden if you want to bank the plentiful big bone drops. Otherwise, use a forager like a magpie.
Combat Notes
These are reasonably easy to kill with any style and they're popular training monsters.
Dharoking with a cannon is the most effective way of killing large quantities of these. Prayer is not necessary if you have a good Defence level, as they are single combat.
Fill your inventory with big bones before leaving to bank. If you fight in the Ardougne tower and have at least level 59 Thieving, then leave two free slots and check the chests for traps. You get 2 blood runes, 500 gp, 250 Thieving XP, and then you are teleported conveniently near the bank! In fact, some players like to combine these two features, doing the chest and fighting the ogres while waiting for it to respawn. (It was even better when there were two chests, but Jagex inexplicably took one out.)
Drop Notes
Ogres have traditionally only dropped seeds, and not often at that. They are also now a very nice gold charm monster. And of course, they also provide big bones on each drop. Still, if drop value and charms are what you're after, there are many better options than ogres.
