I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Baby Blue Dragon - Access and Combat Recommendations
Access Directions
While adult Blue Dragons are found in three locations, baby blue dragons live only in and near the dragon lair in Taverley. I recommend having level 70 Agility to use the pipe shortcut; it saves a lot of walking (or level 65 Agility with a summer pie).
Bank in Falador and go over the western wall, then run to the entrance. Take the pipe obstacle and ta-da, you are at the dragons (this is why the area is often crowded). If you can't use the shortcut, you must go all the way around the dungeon, past magic axes, chaos dwarves, lesser demons and so forth; don't forget your dusty key.
There are five baby blue dragons in and among the three adult dragons in the lair, and three more babies by themselves to the south (near the dusty key spawn). This latter location is obviously easier for combat, since the "mommy dragons" won't attack you, and you don't need an anti-dragon shield. Using a rune defender instead of the shield speeds up fighting. Of course, everyone else knows that too, and sometimes the area is crowded. However, I think it is worth fighting there if at all possible.
Equipment
Wear standard melee gear with an anti-dragon shield. The baby blue dragons have no breath attack but as mentioned the best spot to fight them has adult blue dragons in the same vicinity.
If you are high level and sure you will be able to stay away from the adult dragons, you can swap out the anti-dragon shield for a rune defender.
You can also mage or range these from safespots, and so can wear standard maging or ranging gear. This is far slower, though, and also means you need to be very careful about adult dragon attacks.
Be sure to remember your dusty key if you can't use the pipe obstacle shortcut.
Supplies
I used to bury bones when killing these and then take home blue dragon scales. But these days, bones are worth so much that I recommend banking them, either to sell or to use on a gilded altar to raise Prayer.
For each hour, bring two super attack (4) and super strength (4) potions. I recommend smaller-dose potions if banking frequently.
Higher-level players don't need food; lower-level players do. Feeling creative? Bring an oily fishing rod, bait, some logs and a tinderbox, and fish for lava eels right where you're fighting (must have completed the Heroes Quest).
If you are going to be banking frequently to save the babydragon bones, bring with a ring of duelling or other convenient way of getting to a bank.
Familiar
Bring the highest-level beast of burden you can. This is one place where a war tortoise may well be worth its high cost. If you are high enough level to use a pack yak, another option is to bring Winter Storage scrolls to bank the bones without having to leave the area. You will be able to stay about a half hour at a time before your inventory and the familiar fill up (unless you also bring Summoning potions).
Combat Notes
Fighting in a full world is often advantageous, for faster respawns. That's true whether you fight near the adult dragons or down by the lava.
I definitely recommend only trying to bank the bones if you can use the shortcut and have a decent beast of burden.
Also be sure to keep an eye out for good drops left behind by the adult dragon hunters -- I've seen dragon bones and even blue dragon hides just sitting on the ground there before.
2008-May-30 Note: This monster's drops, drop rate and/or kill rate have changed since this log was recorded -- it is included for historical reference.
