Lizard - Access and Combat Recommendations

Access Directions

These monsters are in the desert between the Agility Pyramid and the town of Sophanem. The easiest way to get there is to use a Pharaoh's sceptre to teleport to the Agility Pyramid, then climb up the rocks just to the west. Otherwise, you can get to Sophanem using the magic carpet network from Pollnivneach, or other standard desert methods.

Equipment

Wear standard melee, ranged or magic gear as appropriate. If you have the enchanted water tiara from the quest Dealing with Scabaras, it is recommended to avoid having to futz around with waterskins in the desert. Otherwise, these monsters drop a fair number of waterskins, which you can use to supplement ones you bring yourself. Be careful, though, as the desert heat damage in this area can add up quickly.

Supplies

You need one ice cooler for each kill. Be sure to bring extras (especially if doing these for a Slayer assignment) as you will waste one if you use it too early.

I use one super attack and one super strength potion per hour on these (half my usual rate) since they are so low level.

You don't need food here; they rarely hit and they drop lots of kebabs.

Familiar

I recommend a beast of burden here, to carry home big bones for use on a prayer altar, or to sell.

Combat Notes

These monsters are considered desert lizards despite the plainer name "lizard". They are

nearly the same as the smaller Small Lizards and Desert Lizards. And despite the melodramatic examine text given to these guys by Jagex, there's no need to "run away" -- they are actually quite easy to kill. :)

Drop Notes

There are minor variations in drops between these lizards and their smaller relatives. The level 42 lizards have the same drop table, but they drop more of some items and fewer of others. In particular, they seem to drop more nature runes, and less noted coal and iron ore. And of course, they also drop big bones instead of regular bones, which is a boon to those training Prayer. It is faster to kill the smaller lizards just because they have fewer life points, of course.

These monsters often drop fire runes and an herb at the same time.
