I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Black Knight - Access and Combat Recommendations
Access Directions
The Black Knights' Fortress is the obvious place to find black knights. Get to it by heading west from Edgeville, going over the bridge to Ice Mountain, and then north. Note that you must be wearing an iron chainbody and bronze medium helm to get into the fortress.
I prefer to fight these in Taverley Dungeon, as I don't need to bother with the "noob armor" and it's easy enough to get to. Enter the dungeon using the ladder south of Taverley (use the balloon network or come from Falador.) Then go past the suits of armor, giant bats, magic axes and poison scorpions, continuing south past the hill giants. There you will find a huge complex with dozens of black knights in it.
There's also a black knight in a cell in the jail south of Port Sarim, and some in the Wilderness, neither of which I have bothered with.
Equipment
These are simple melee monsters, like so many others, and so you can use standard gear. I believe they can be ranged or maged from safe spots though I have not tried.
No special gear is required unless you are trying to get into their fortress. In that case, as mentioned above, you need an iron chainbody and bronze medium helm (but you can swap them for real armor once you get in.)
Supplies
Use super attack and super strength potions to increase your kill rate. Mid-level and lower-level players should also use super defence potions; high-level players don't need them.
Similarly, only mid-level and low-level players need food to fight these monsters.
Familiar
A beast of burden is useful to carry home the unnoted steel bars these guys like to drop.
Combat Notes
Black knights are straightforward monsters and easy to kill, with no real issues to worry about.
Assuming you've completed the Wanted quest, each time you kill a black knight, you gain one ranking "point" as a white knight (in terms of being able to access the white knight's armory). At 100 kills you become a white knight "novice"; at 200 kills a "peon"; at 300 kills a "page"; at 500 kills a "noble"; at 800 kills an adept; and at 1,300 kills a "master". You can check your rank at any time by looking in your quest log under the quest Wanted. Note that killing White Knights will subtract from your score.
Drop Notes
Black knights are most often fought to increase a player's standing in the White Knights, not for their drops. They provide a mediocre assortment of runes, gems, herbs and other items, including a fair number of steel bars.
Black knights are also pretty good charm droppers for their level.
