I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.
One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.
If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.
Thanks for your understanding!
Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Rockslug - Access and Combat Recommendations
Access Directions
To get to the main location, use a ring of slaying, or take fairy ring code "A J R"; either way, the cave entrance is just to the east. Walk past the cave crawlers and the rockslugs are in the second room. To bank, just teleport using a ring of duelling and then return.
If you want to fight in the lumbridge swamp caves, the shortcut opened up as part of the Lost Tribe quest is preferred, as they are in the first room south of the cave goblin tunnels.
You can also fight these in Dorgesh-Kaan South Dungeon; to get here you should use fairy ring code "A J Q". The rockslugs are right near the fairy ring, so some consider this more convenient, especially if you want to bank frequently to save the frequent (unnoted) ore and bar drops.
Equipment
Standard melee gear is sufficient for these. There are safe spots for rangers or mages, though meleeing is much faster.
To fight in either of the alternate locations you will need a covered light source.
Supplies
You need one bag of salt (10 gp at any Slayer master) for each kill. Be sure to bring extras (especially if doing these for a Slayer assignment) as you will waste one if you use it too early.
Otherwise, high-level players need no supplies other than the usual super attack and super strength to speed up kills. Mid-level and lower-level players may need food, but still not a great deal as they don't hit particularly hard.
Bring with a beast of burden to take home more of the ores they drop.
Familiar
There's no need for a healing familiar and no other pouch is particularly useful, so just use a beast of burden to take home more of the ores and bars they frequently drop.
Combat Notes
Rockslugs have somewhat unique behavior in that, once you get them down to zero LP and it's time to finish them with the salt, they become unaggressive. They will just sort of wander off, so finish them quickly. As soon as you see the "salt pouring" animation, you can click on another monster. Sometimes this will let you attack again more quickly.
Drop Notes
Rockslugs are an excellent source of earth runes, dropping them constantly; they also provide lots of ores and bars, and once in a while will drop a set of light mystic gloves.
These monsters can drop a gem in addition to another item (like when you are mining, which seems to be the monster's "theme").
