Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Hill Giant - Access and Combat Recommendations

Access Directions

The Edgeville location is the most convenient, as it is just west of Varrock -- this also means it is the most crowded. To get there the first time you must walk all the way through the Edgeville Dungeon. Just past the hobgoblins there's a room with a brass key; pick it up and you can thereafter use it to get through the locked door shortcut room west of the Cook's Guild. You can also put it on the steel key ring.

The Taverley location takes much longer to get to. You must enter the dungeon using the ladder south of Taverley (use the balloon network or come from Falador.) Then go past the suits of armor, giant bats, magic axes and poison scorpions, heading south towards the black knights area; the giants are just before there.

The Observatory location is best accessed via Castle Wars, while there are a variety of ways to get to the gnome spots (the ones in the maze are spread out). I'm not very familiar with the Wilderness locations.

Equipment

Use standard melee, ranged or magic gear as appropriate; rangers and mages can safe spot fairly easily, especially in the primary Edgeville location.

Note that a higher-hitting weapon like a godsword can be useful here for getting one-hit kills, as they have 350 LP and a whip will often hit in the 300-349 LP range.

Supplies

Lower-level players will require a decent amount of food, mid-levels need some, and high-levels none at all. Super attack and strength potions will speed up kills.

These monsters have little worth alching.

Familiar

Bring a beast of burden familiar to carry out the large number of limpwurt roots they drop, and big bones as well if you decide to keep them.

Combat Notes

Like most low-level critters, these are quick and easy to kill for even mid-level players. Those with low defence, or wearing mage robes, should watch out however -- these don't hit hard but do hit pretty often.

The biggest problem really is all the crowds, especially in Edgeville. It's really worth taking the time to go to the Taverley spot instead if killing more than a few of them.

Drop Notes

Hill giants are a good source of limpwurt roots, as well as providing small numbers of runes, herbs, arrows and other items. They are also one of the fastest ways to gather big bones, if you are high enough level to kill them quickly, since they have only 350 LP.
