Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Cave Slime - Access and Combat Recommendations

Access Directions

These monsters are found throughout the Lumbridge Swamp Caves, but there's only a few in each room. The Dorgesh-Kaan South Dungeon is a much better choice if you've completed Death to the Dorgeshuun.

The best spot in the Lumbridge caves is near the main entrance. Go down the rope, then carefully pass the wall beast by standing next to the square opposite it and running (not walking) to the square directly on the other side. Proceed west, then north to a room with three slime. Be sure to fight in a full world for faster respawns.

Access the fairy rings and go to code “A J Q”. Run east, then north and then west, continuing all the way until the corridor ends. Bend to the south, then continue west, and you’ll find an alcove with six cave slimes.

Equipment

Standard combat gear of the appropriate type is fine for these. I use regular melee equipment.

You need a covered light source; a bullseye lantern is ideal. Do not bring an exposed flame like a candle!

Supplies

These monsters poison on contact as soon as you begin combat, and continuously thereafter, so you will need a steady supply of super antipoisons. Each dose lasts 6 minutes.

I also recommend super attack and super strength potions -- the extra swamp tar you get will more than cover their cost.

Their weapon/armor drops aren't worth alching so you do not alching runes.

Only the lowest-level players need food for these.

Familiar

There's no advantage to any particular familiar here, so I just use a magpie for its foraged items.

Combat Notes

These are very easy monsters to kill; the name of the game is to get them as fast as possible so you get as many swamp tar as you can.

Be sure you get the swamp tar after each kill -- it blends into the dark color of the floor here and is easy to miss.

Drop Notes

The swamp tar is the main draw here, but you'll also get some water rune and miscellaneous junk. Bear in mind, though, that the iron boots are not junk. Players who don't train Defence will pay shockingly high prices for them, so be sure you keep them to resell!
