Banshee - Access and Combat Recommendations

Access Directions

Use a ring of slaying for the fastest way to get to the Slayer Tower. If you can't make the rings yet, walk northwest from Canifis or use the "C K S" fairy ring.

Enter the building and then walk all the way around past the crawling hands. The best spot for fighting banshees is near the stairs.

If you didn't bring an energy potion, conserve run energy as follows. After you enter the crawling hands area, turn off run and click in the banshees room to walk there on “autopilot” while you do something in another window. Then turn run back on.

Equipment

These use a magic-based melee attack, so wear dragonhide. Earmuffs are also essential, or they do high damage and drain your stats.

Wear a Salve amulet for meleeing; it gives a 15% bonus to accuracy and damage (the enhanced version gives 20%). Ranging is also effective since you need to wear dragonhides anyway.

Supplies

If you are high-level, super attack and super strength potions are all you need. Mid-level players should add super defence potions and some food.

Lower-level players may want to bring an energy potion for the walk to the banshees' area; since the 2009 run energy update, anyone with a decent Agility level will be fine.

Familiar

Since these monsters are prime herb droppers, I recommend a macaw to improve herb drop quality.

Combat Notes

There's really nothing much to these; just hack away at them. Melee is preferred here as the Salve amulet allows you to frequently get one-hit kills, so you can rack up drops faster.

Due to their fantastic drops, the banshee area often gets crowded. If this happens, world hop -- you're better off in a world with longer respawn times than fighting for the few spawns in an area with another player.

Incidentally, the kill speed of these monsters has dropped slightly due to graphics changes.

Drop Notes

Banshees are superb drop monsters, providing lots of herbs and hundreds of noted pure essence per hour. They also provide some runes, lots of fishing bait (useful if you fish!) and the odd gem or two.
